History The stock company Český porcelán Dubí (Czech porcelain Dubí) is one of four manufacturers of the much demanded "generation porcelain", porcelain with an onion pattern. It follows on a tradition, the roots of which originate in the year 1864 when the industrialist Anton Tschinkel bought in Dubí the building of the so called lower mill and introduced the manufacture of firstly Majolica (1874) and then also the manufacture of porcelain. In 1885 the firm was transferred to the ownership of the German company C. Teichert and the production of an extensive assortment of comprehensive porcelain sets according to the model manufactured in the Porcelain manufactory in Meissen was introduced. The factory changed hands several times by the time of the Second World War. After the end of the war the factory returns to Czech ownership. In 1955 the plant begins cooperation with the Austrian firm of Thun-Hohenstein, which had a great share in the explosive expansion of the assortment that lead the company to its present day likeness.From the end of the sixties a great deal of attention is given to the continual modernization of the production process with the aim of facilitating production and increasing effectiveness, the creation of an optimal work environment and of attaining the most ecological production. In 1991 the company became independent and became a stock company. In 1997 the trademark from 1993 was supplemented with a label of the country of origin. In l997 the stock company ČESKÝ PORCELÁN (CZECH PORCELAIN) became the majority shareholder of the porcelain manufactory Royal Dux Bohemia, Inc. in Duchcov (This company produces figurative and decorative porcelain). In 2002 Český porcelán (Czech porcelain), stock company was classified among the firms and trademarks that have received the title of "Family silver" ("Family heirloom"). |
